{Happy Mother's Day}

Wishing all you mamas a wonderful, relaxing, and family filled Mother's Day! Spent the morning being pampered by my hubby and baby girls and off to take my mom to a movie at IPic Austin this afternoon! Couldn't ask for more!

But the best the gift of all is being a mommy to my munchkins!

She's Two!

I can't believe my first baby turned two this weekend. We celebrated at Little Gym with her besties. She had the best time, which means the party was a success!

Lily is really embracing toddlerhood by becoming more independent, fearless, and talking up a storm. Some of her personality traits I love are her tenaciousness. If shes doesn't succeed the first time, she tries and tries again. She is a fearless eater. She will try anything once. We joke that she eats more than most grown men. And she likes spicy food-- just like her mom! She is so lovable. She tells daddy, baby and I "te amo" and showers everyone with hugs and kisses. She dances all the time, and she has an infectious laugh. I can't help but giggle when she giggles. At bedtime sometimes instead of reading books we talk about her day, what she did with her friends and family that day, and how much she loves them. Laying on her bedroom floor with her and having these talks are some of my favorite moments.

Tiny Toms & Weekend Musings

The family and I had a glorious weekend! The weather here in ATX was incredible, and I wish I could order it up for the rest of the summer, or at least as long as I'm carrying baby girl #2.

Saturday Lily participated in her first Easter Egg Hunt, her second visit to the Easter bunny and her first hit at a pinata, though not necessarily in that order.She hung out with her peeps (get it, peeps?) and that DID NOT include Mr. Bunny. He was the last person she cared to hop around with (okay enough Easter puns). 

After a relaxing, unscheduled afternoon and evening of fun and sun in the backyard, we put Lily to bed, left Lita to babysit, and enjoyed a baby-free night at the movies. Scream 4 did not disappoint. I am not a scary movie person, and A said I looked something like this throughout the entire show.

Sunday A had to work, so Lil and I did some marathon shopping at Target & our friendly neighborhood Walgreens. Then we joined Lita at the mall where we found these for Miss Lily!

It was downhill from there as I had to buy my first pair or maternity shorts. Ugh. Who makes these clothes? I found the least offensive pair at Pea In the Pod, also found a cute pair of Toms for myself and some new kicks for A. We had a theme going, can't you tell?

Sunday night ended with A and I's new favorite ritual: parking ourselves on the couch and watching three straight hours of reality TV-- One episode of America's Next Great Restaurant, followed by one way-too-long episode of Celebrity Apprentice. It's shameful, but we still manage to work in a decent conversation during commercial breaks. We've even come up with our own restaurant concept in case ANGR makes it for a second season! Usually A whips up a delicious dessert for us too. He's my personal baker, in case you didn't know. Last week it was homemade oatmeal cookies, the week before homemade honey cookies, and this week brownies, not homemade but just as delicious. I'm so going to miss indulging in these sweet treats after baby girl arrives.

Monday, it was back to the grindstone. What did you do this weekend?

Lily & the Great Pumpkin Patch

We had the BEST time at the pumpkin patch last week. Thursdays are our Saturdays due to A's crazy work schedule, so we headed out to Marble Falls, TX to take Lily to her first pumpkin patch experience.

Still working on some storyboards thanks to an idea from Kelly, so more to come!

New Tooth

Lily cut ANOTHER tooth over the weekend. That makes a total of seven teeth. Seven! Her newest tooth came in on the bottom left. Incisor maybe? She already has her bottom two teeth and her four front top teeth. Those four came in all together... that was rough for her, poor baby.

Right now here favorite thing to chew on is her crib. When I got her out bed on Saturday morning, her mouth was covered in white paint.

We have this, on the front, but we have added these as well since that is where most of the "damage" occurred. Sophie is once again her best friend, and the Gerber yogurt melts seem to be helping quite a bit as well. She gnaws on them with her front teeth.

Have you noticed that babies aren't hungry when they're teething? Lily will hardly eat a thing. She's surviving on formula and juice at the moment... Bless her heart.

I have to say for a kid her age, with as many teeth as she has cut already, she really has handled it well. I've heard horror stories about teething babies, and Lily really has been pretty graceful throughout it all. Not too fussy, and just needs the things mentioned above, plus a little Tylenol at night to get her through it. Hoping she can get through the rest just as easily!

Lily's Haricut

Lily made a visit to Cool Cuts a few weeks ago to get her first haircut. We joke that I was "bullied" into getting her hair cut by her dad and her Lita, but I think it was for the best. It was just getting so long and always in her eyes when she tried to go to sleep. Lily had starting pulling the hair ties and bows out of her hair. I was afraid she was going to swallow one when I wasn't looking... So, we decided to give her some bangs and trim up the back. I think she looks pretty adorable!

Happy 9 Month Birthday Lily!

I can't believe how fast the time has gone by! Lily, you are such a joy these days, full of surprises and quirkiness. I love watching your personality develop, you have a great sense of humor little one and a kind heart! I can tell by the way you laugh at our silly jokes and the way you gently pet Jackson. (Although you occasionally pull his tail- he doesn't mind.) You are really figuring out the world around you. You get a look of serious concentration on your face sometimes. It's amazing and a little frightening that you are so smart...Your daddy and I are so proud of you and love you more than you know. It's wonderful to know that you love us too, and you show it in the cutest ways. Your sloppy kisses and tight hugs with your arms and legs are adorable and so endearing. Some of  the fun things you are doing right now are:

You can clap, and you try to say "Yea". You love to clap and you love to be clapped for.
You just started giving "high fives" this week!
You attempt to wave "hello" and "bye", but aren't really interested in that at the moment.
Talking up a storm! You are saying "ma, mom, la, ba, ah, and ya"  and giving lots of raspberries. No "da" yet, but we are getting there. All of these sounds you will make on command, and you love to mimic, espeically when we are driving in the car. You also like to make "monster noises" like "raar" and you scrunch your nose and eyes when you make that noise.
You love music too! You love to hear mommy sing and you will try to sing along as well.
And dance! You have the cutest sway that you'll do when you hear the alphabet song on your musical table and sometimes you'll put your hand up too. It's really adorable Lily.
You are crawling up a storm, and love to be chased. You'll turn around with a big smile on your face to see if we are following you, giggle and off you go!

You are pulling up on everything! and WALKING with your baby stroller. When I showed your dad for the first time, he was so full of pride Lily, he almost cried.
You love to ride on your car. Even though you're supposed to make it go with your feet, you prefer to lean back with your feet up and be pushed.
You love to be carried and held. and you hold on tight with your strong little legs.
You will sit on your bottom and turn yourself in a circle with your legs. It's so cute, and this is usually how you decide in which direction you want to crawl.
You smile a lot, but you are pretty serious too. We have a feeling that you are thinking really hard a lot of the time.
You like new people, but when you are in a new environment, it takes you a few minutes to warm up to everyone and then you want the crowd's full attention. You are a ham that way!
You love to be tickled, hang upside down in our arms, and ride on our shoulders. You hold on to hair like they are your reins.
You love walks! We try to go on a walk a day and you are completely relaxed in your stroller and will usually fall asleep.

You are such a good sleeper. You still take two naps a day, and your bedtime is at 7 o'clock. You are an early bird! Sometimes you'll try to get up at 6 am and daddy will give a bottle and turn on your lullabies so you'll sleep a little longer. You prefer to see daddy when you wake up in the mornings, and will look around form him when I come to get you in the morning. You prefer to sleep in your crib, but you'll take a nap in your car seat occasionally as well.

Lily you got your first haircut last month! Mommy didn't want to do it, but your hair was getting in your eyes and making you very unhappy, so we took you to the kiddie barber, and you have a cute bib and bangs. Very stylish!

You love to eat and you will always try new things! (You're like your momma that way). You prefer to feed yourself with your hands, so meals have become a lot easier for mommy and daddy. :) So far you have tried: bananas, (which you LOVE), avocados, peas, carrots, squash, zucchini, lentils, pineapple, apple, peaches, pears, potatoes, pasta, bread, you LOVE bread, grapes, cheese, sweet potato, broccoli, yogurt, puffs (another favorite), and rice. You will still eat rice cereal and oatmeal occasionally, but finger foods are your preference.

When you fall asleep on my shoulder after a bedtime bottle it's the sweetest and most precious moments we spend together Lily. I use that time to tell you how much I love you, and how important you are to me, your dad, your family, your friends and the world. I can't wait to see what life has in store for you Boogs, you are going to be amazing!
